Jeffrey Bernett
Born in Champaign, Illinois, Jeffrey Bernett studied Business Management at Northwestern and Minnesota Universities and graduated from Furniture Design department of Parnham College.
Jeffrey Bernett founded Studio B in 1995 in New York, a multi disciplinary design consultancy firm to create and encourage projects that handle design disciplines in a wide spectrum. In 1996, his debut collection ‘Ideas for Production’ was awarded the Editor’s Award for the “Best of Show” and he presented this furniture accessories/objects of this collection at the 1996 International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). In 2000, Bernett was selected as the ‘Best New Designer’ to work with Dune, USA by ICFF; together with five other designers.
Bernett continues to work in many areas -- interior architecture, transportation design, furniture, household products, lighting, fashion accessories, design communication and strategic planning -- winning numerous design awards along the way. In the emerging global market for design, Bernett has often been the first American chosen to work with several of his European clients. Bernett’s client list includes: Authentics, B&B Italia, Bernhardt Design, Boffi, Cappellini, Dune, Estée Lauder, Hidden, Magis, Michael Kors, Moooi, Northwest Airlines, Ligne Roset, Swedese and Troy.
Articles on Bernett’s design work has been published in various magazines: Esquire December 2002, Design Diffusion News/DDN September 2002, Italian Elle Decor September 2002, Japanese Elle Deco August 2002, Residence July/August 2002, A&W (Architektur & Wohnen) June/July 2002, Intramurous May 2002 and Arena Spring/Summer 2002. Additionally, Bernett participates in design events all around the world and teaches at schools.
